What is clear aligner treatment?

These trays are made from a comfortable and transparent plastic material that does not irritate the soft tissues in your mouth.

The five steps to realigning the smile using clear aligner treatment
- Your initial consultation appointment. During your initial consultation, our dentist assesses your teeth and determines if clear aligner treatment suits you. They will also discuss your treatment goals and expectations, as well as the cost and duration of the treatment. X-rays, photos, and teeth impressions might also be taken during this appointment.
- Treatment planning process. Based on the information gathered from the initial consultation, your orthodontist will create a detailed treatment plan. This plan includes a 3D digital model of the teeth that shows how they will move throughout the treatment. Your orthodontist may adjust this plan until they achieve the desired outcome.
- Receiving your clear aligners. Following the completion of the treatment plan, a set of specially constructed clear aligners is provided to you. The material used to make these aligners is smooth and nearly invisible, and it fits over your teeth snugly. These aligners are made to gently move your teeth into the position you want them to be in.
- Wearing and caring for your aligners. Clear aligners should be worn for twenty to twenty-two hours every day, only being removed while eating, drinking anything other than water, or brushing and flossing the teeth. It is important to follow these guidelines for the treatment to be effective. Your orthodontist will also provide instructions on how to clean and maintain your aligners.
- Progress check-ups and switching to new aligners. One of the advantages of clear aligner treatment is that it requires less appointments. Unlike traditional braces there is no need for regular monthly checkups. Most patients only need 1 or 2 adjustments for the entire time of treatment. Husband and wife duo Dr. Ricardo Andrade and Dr. Denisse Montalvo head the Dynamic Dental team.
Dr. Andrade received his undergraduate degree in Genetics with a minor in Spanish from Long Beach State University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of California San Francisco. He completed hundreds of hours in continuing education courses before establishing his family and cosmetic dentistry practice in Sacramento. He is keen to introduce the latest advancements and technologies in family dentistry, implants, and orthodontics at his practice.
Dr. Montalvo has over 19 years of experience and continues taking educational course and specializes in cosmetics, therapeutic Botox and implant dentistry. Dr Montalvo graduated with a Zoology major from Auburn University, from which she received a full athletic scholarship for fast pitch softball. She received her doctorate degree from UCSF, University of San Francisco dental school where she met her husband Dr. Andrade.
Dr. Andrade and Dr. Montalvo have two kids and enjoy their time off with their children, traveling to new countries on dental missions. Their adventures include Cusco, Peru, in 2023, Rosarito, Mexico, in 2024, and planning a trip to Guatemala in 2025.
