Our highly skilled team of dental professionals can improve patients’ oral health and confidence by using various types of prosthetics and providing prosthetic care to ensure the longevity of our patients’ appliances.
What are prosthetics in dentistry?
Prosthetics are artificial replacements for missing or damaged teeth. At Dynamic Dental of Sacramento, California, we provide prosthetics and prosthetic care for our patients.
What are the different types of prosthetics available at Dynamic Dental?
There are several types of prosthetics available, including dentures, bridges, and implants.
- Dentures. These removable prosthetic devices replace all or some of the teeth in a dental arch. They are made to fit either the upper or lower jaw and can be customized to match the exact color and appearance of natural teeth. Dentures may include both partial and full dentures, as well as implant-retained dentures.
- Bridges. A dental bridge is a prosthetic device designed to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of dental crowns anchored on the teeth adjacent to the gap, with a false tooth (or teeth) in between. The entire structure is bonded onto the existing teeth using dental cement and can only be removed by a dentist.
- Implants. Dental implants are titanium posts that our team will surgically place into the jawbone to replace the tooth root. Once the implant has fused with the jawbone, a crown, bridge, or denture can be attached to the top to complete the restoration. Implants are well known for their durability and natural appearance, making them a popular choice for replacing missing teeth.
Why are prosthetics necessary in dentistry?
Prosthetics play an essential role in restorative dentistry by restoring the function and the appearance of missing or damaged teeth. This can improve chewing and speaking abilities, prevent further oral health issues, and boost confidence in one’s smile.
