In the past, if you wanted to straighten your teeth, you had to endure metal brackets and wires for several years. Today, people have a number of options for orthodontic treatment, among which is clear aligner therapy. Drs. Ricardo Andrade and Denisse Montalvo from Dynamic Dental are the best dentists to see for dental aligners in the Sacramento, California, area. Clear aligners offer all the benefits of metal braces without the inconveniences.
Are you considering orthodontic treatment? Here are some good reasons to use aligners over metal braces to straighten teeth.
If you’re concerned about your appearance, clear aligners are for you, as the treatment is discreet. The aligners are transparent on your teeth due to their clear plastic composition. Unless people are looking for the aligners, they often go completely unnoticed. Unlike metal braces, dental aligners don’t stand out or attract attention to your teeth. They stay in the background, working slowly and steadily to straighten your teeth and transform your smile’s appearance.
Dental aligners offer greater comfort than metal braces and are more convenient to use. With traditional braces, the brackets and wires are permanently attached to your teeth for the duration of your treatment. This affects what you can eat, how you eat, and how you care for your teeth. In contrast, clear aligners are removable. You take them off for eating, drinking (anything but water), and oral hygiene. Life can go on pretty much like normal while straightening your teeth.
With braces, you’re asked to avoid certain foods that can damage the brackets, impair your treatment, or make oral care difficult. Not so with dental aligners. As the aligners are removed for eating, you can eat whatever you want, as long as you maintain good oral hygiene. Remember that a healthy diet during your procedure will contribute to a healthier smile when your treatment is done.
Dental aligners greatly facilitate oral hygiene during orthodontics. You can brush and floss normally to keep your teeth and gums fresh and clean, greatly reducing your risk of dental issues that can impair your orthodontic treatment.
Another drawback of traditional braces is the need for frequent adjustments, which means adjusting your schedule to make time for the dentist. As dental aligners don’t need adjusting, you’ll have fewer and shorter dental visits. Drs. Andrade and Montalvo may see you about every six weeks to check your progress. If you have questions or concerns that need attention between visits, we’re happy to schedule an appointment at your convenience.
